Reflect=Planning activities -Thursday 14.09.18 until Friday 15.09.18, 2IB was going to Heisetra as planned by the teachers. At the core meeting, the teachers told us that we could participate and help with the organization by choosing between two parts: Helping out in the kitchen or planning activities to bond the class. I was originally going to help out at the kitchen since I like making food and giving it to people to eat and put a happy smile on their faces, in addition to that, my friends that joined the activity planning wanted me to be in the kitchen and take care of different things like pork etc. But I found out that I would rather want to participate in trying to bond the class. I trusted that the many people that were in the kitchen would take care of the pork, allergies etc. and joined the planning group. When I sat down with the group and planned, it went as I expected it to go. I am not much of a group person and prefer to do things on my own but I am working on being a better person to work with. I think that the planning went well and I liked the group I was in, and I felt comfortable since it consisted mostly of people I knew very well. During the “the core” lesson, we came up with the ideas and I had the responsibility of writing them down and sending it to the teacher. I felt that it was hard to keep and I had to ask what many of the suggestions were about but at the end of the lesson, we got the list with the games. After that class, we made a chat and discussed what we should further do and ended up dividing the group into the different games. I had the task of making half the quiz and Nadine the rest. Sadly, we ended up only doing 2 out of the 5 games we had planned. Me and Nadine’s quiz and mafia were the two that we had time for, but it ended up being super fun and people had to work together to reach the goals of the games. We even included the teaches which I thought could be very fun because the IB family is not only the students but also the teachers that are our guides through IB. I also helped out with serving food, cleaning up after, and got compliments from the teachers for it, which made me super happy and even more excited to help. So to conclude, it was a fun and stressful experience that made me bond and love my class even more than before.

Reflect- Mountain climbing -At the same the Core lesson, the teachers told us that on Friday, we would go mountain climbing. I wasn’t really excited to hear that at first. They then asked us how we should do it so that everybody will get happy with the mountain climbing and some of the students suggested that those who wanted could go up to the top, take a break and go down, whilst those who wanted to go further could go in a group after the break. I was happy to hear that because then I could just go back after the break. When we climbed the mountain, I was tired but also felt that it was something that I actually didn’t really hate. I was one of the people in front constantly and after the break, I gathered myself and decided to take the extra trip that was a little over 2 hours more. Our small group experienced going the wrong way, running through swamps, walking on thin planks to avoid the water but got a boatload of water in the shoe anyways. But we also experienced beautiful nature, stones, old bridges etc. When we came down, I realised that I wanted to do this again. It was not actually the first time I mountain climbed since I used to do it before a lot with my old school. But this made me remember the fun parts of it, appreciate the nature that may not be present in the future and made me consider even doing it as CAS. So to conclude, this showed me a new side of me that I would like to be in more contact with and how much strength i have if I put my mind into doing something I would not normally do.
